Better run something for which the installation kernel has cutting-edge
hardware support, e.g., as to
SATA (http://linuxmafia.com/faq/Hardware/sata.html) or
SAS (http://linuxmafia.com/faq/Hardware/sas.html), as applicable.
It's really annoying to find that $DISTRO_OF_CHOICE won't install onto
your shiny PowerEdge 6000SUX because Dell's made yet another wacky chipset
choice for its "PERC" (http://linuxmafia.com/faq/Hardware/perc.html)
HBAs.

You might want to be aware, in particular, of Christophe Kern's, Scott
Kveton's, Colm MacCárthaigh's, Steve Mickeler's, and Lennart Lundager
Sorensen's installer images:

Apologies for that page being a little dusty. I'll be attempting to
revamp it Real Soon Now.
