[SlugLUG] Help a friend of mine figure out if he has a viable idea?

A entrepreneur friend of mine is launching a new service aimed at IT
buyers. He's testing the waters to see if this would be at all of
interest to IT folks, and since I nominally fall into that category, he
thinks I'm a logical person to spread the word and gather feedback
through. It seems like a reasonable proposition to me, although my
recollection was more along the lines of having to beg people to let me
spend money with their company, rather than beat them off with a stick.
I figured that the folks on this list, at least some of you, might
actually buy IT equipment now and then. :)

Here's the description, feel free to send me email directly with
feedback as well:

SecretBuyers.com

*/Are you tired of getting endless calls from salespeople, just because
you signed up to download a datasheet or white paper?/*

What if you could...

    * *Communicate anonymously* with potential vendors
    * Get white papers and product collateral *without giving up your
      email or phone number*
    * Talk with a salesperson or SE, *with the guarantee that they could
never call you again except at your request*

Would that save you time and hassle? And here’s the kicker:

What if, in addition to all this, certain *vendors offered you a gift
certificate just for the opportunity to have a 30-minute telephone
conversation with you*? And if you weren't interested they'd never get
your contact information, and you'd never hear from them again.

*SecretBuyers* is a new service, launching late 2006, which does all of
the above.

Please use my referral URL to sign up, so that he knows who you heard
about the service from (theoretically, I might get a small reward, if
you ever do):

http://www.secretbuyers.com/?thomas@thomasleavitt.org

or just enter the email address above when you sign up

He says he's got several high profile vendors lined up, they just want
him to demonstrate that there's some interest on the end user side.

Regards,
Thomas Leavitt
