It's not really very fair to call something *spam* when it comes from a 
registered member who has made meaningful contributions in the past.  Perhaps 
you didn't want to receive it, but I get all sorts of stuff I'd rather not 
get from friends and family.  Putting them on my spam blocker list is a 
rather extreme measure that goes beyond the level of decency one ought to 
expect from a group of Linux enthusiasts.
