I'd worry what the shell was running as. Is it a login shell, does it run
from the X-Session, etc. If your X11 is running as root from an init script,
you'll want to make sure this terminal isn't a spawn of that process and
then also defaulting to root. If it is (and that can't be changed), make
sure you lock your terminal when you leave your computer. Though I guess the
golden rule applies: physical access means complete access.

Also, consider using the X keys manager to execute an "xterm &" every time
F1 is pressed.

Those things aside - sounds like a lot of fun! Does it support compositing
(transparency)?
