I would assume that cruznet now requires some sort of client
application in order to DHCP.  This is of course a guess since I am not
on campus yet and have not had the chance to test the wireless.  Or
these is some sort of scan run against your machine and (as your said)
a non Windows/Mac machine is deterred from connecting.
