Well, since you mention that:  If you mean you're forcing them to suffer
through routinely running upstream head code, then there are 50,000-odd
systems whose users I pity.  

Competent package maintainers do not blindly follow upstream -- for good
reason.  You may eventually figure that out.  You might not.
