[SlugLUG] SlugLUG Plans

Hi, Rohan --

For the new year, I have a couple of items that SlugLUG might be interested
in (and while I am not a student, I am a GNU/Linux advocate in Santa Cruz
and could be active in SlugLUG if you include non-students):

First, Richard Stallman is coming to Northern and Central California in
mid-September. It's before school starts, apparently, but I've asked his
assistant if he could get in a speaking engagement in Santa Cruz, preferably
at UC Santa Cruz, but possibly elsewhere if school doesn't start (at the end
of my e-mail is RMS's schedule -- I'm planning to go to Berkeley and SJ
State, possibly Stanford).

Second, I am planning to host a Software Freedom Day 2007 event on Sept. 15,
provisionally in Felton (near where I live), but if anyone has any ideas
regarding space, equipment, etc., I'm open to them (for example, is there
space available on campus prior to the start of school?). I hope to finalize
plans by Friday to get the information out to the press. I've sort of
planned this on my own, and I'd gladly welcome some help if anyone's
interested.

Thanks, and below is RMS's schedule.
