Given that wireless access is sometimes necessary before things like X 
(especially if the ethernet card is proving problematic) it would certainly 
be nice to be able to authenticate without a browser.  I vote for we bring an 
uncontrolled access point, name it "sluglug" (or whatever), and have a 
reliable source of wireless goodness should it be necessary.
