[SlugLUG] tables leading up to linux install fest

I have an extra hub I could bring if I am in the area when it happens...
I imagine nowadays most people will bring their laptops to an install
fest...But I don't know I have not been to an install fest recently.

The freeculture group was taking about manning a table. I think we
collaborated in having a table set up outside the bookstore that a few
of us man for a few days at the start of next quarter that would be
great lead up to the install fest.
We could have a few laptops running the latest xgl beryl system ripping
DVD, using amrok with DRM free music being synced with ipods and what
have you :) Playing HD content in full resolution without
defect-by-design-vista down sampling, video eding with cinelerra,
showing a XP virtualized in Xen, running World of Warcraft/whatever is
a popular game now days in WINE..and basically highlighting the
superiority of Linux for interested participants. We could also be
handing out live cd linux distributions, open source software DVDs,
creative commons/freeculture propaganda and fliers for the install fest :)

Some questions about framing: Are most programmer types already using
linux? CS majors whats the the status quo now days? Who is the target
audience for an install fest? Do the programmer types need the same
support system as unix newbies? Also how do we convert the "think
different" OSX users? I imagine mac usage is relatively high on our
campus?... Has anyone made a jump from OSX to Linux and want to claim is
a good idea? (besides not being nickel and dimed by the apple
corporation for updates, network drivers and full-screen video playback)
the advantages are not as clear in comparison to Microsoft.
