[SlugLUG] I feel famous or something

I actually have some genuine questions about UTF-8 on linux. I've been
spending a lot of time over the past couple of days figuring it out.
I've got my file system recognizing UTF-8 file names, and I've got UTF-8 set
up as my default LANG and LC_ALL, but the actual *execution* of UTF-8 is way
off.
So, I need some tips.
First of all, I'm using Eterm, which I've discovered has almost no support
of UTF-8. I originally abandoned xterm due to lack of psuedo-transparency,
but honestly I don't even like that "feature" any more so I could just go
back to xterm. I like the crisp clean low-fuss look of a bare Xterm, so any
suggestions would help.
Secondly, what is a good console font to use that not only supports UTF-8,
but actually employs a lot of it? I mean, not just sygils and accents, but a
LOT of stuff such as, er, Japanese (I can never keep the names of the
different character sets straight), and Arabic (same deal). I never use
these, of course, but I'd like to at least have the *option*.
All your help is much appreciated.
