Ok, that's good - MAC-based.
The 2 installfests Alicia Bell and Adam Thompson (and others)
(http://ucsc.facebook.com/profile.php?id=6704738) put on last year
under the auspices of cgirs.ucsc.edu were in the Nameste lounge and a
lounge at Stevenson, and I think they set up servers or routers
connected to the wired net. They concentrated on Ubuntu.
The earlier SlugLUG installfests were always on Saturday (maybe Sunday
too), and attendees were about half to 2/3 UCSC people, with the
remainder being people from SMAUG or Cabrillo or the Santa Cruz ham
radio club, or a combination of those groups and other UCSC groups.
There didn't seem to be a lot of trouble getting use of Jack's Lounge
on weekends in the daytime, and Nacho's (Ignacio Solis') lab was in
the building, so he knew who to talk to to get ethernet ports opened
up, etc. People were using every known Linux distro, it seemed. These
were generally all-day affairs.
