[SlugLUG] application/x-java-vm for ubuntu

So I've been playing with my newly installed ubuntu desktop and it's cool
(thanks Rohan and installfest!), but when I tried to check out the webcam
for Cowell's on surfingsantacruz.com, I get that annoying error message that
I can't see the waves without some un-named plugin.
Apt-get didn't work, there's no such thing as x-java-vm to install. Firefox
was more helpful, sending me to the Sun pages to download an rpm, but it did
say to pick the version that matches your distro, and all they offered was
SUSE, RH, and some FC versions to choose from, so I haven't done it yet.
Any advice on exactly what to do to be able to get those cam images?
Thanks! (And be really simplistic in your answer, I'm as bad at linux as I
am at surfing.)
Kitty
